Simon is a medical doctor from the University of Bergen (2016) training to become a neurologist. His clinical interests are within the field of movement disorders and neurodegeneration. He has been working in the Parkinson’s disease research group at Neuro-SysMed since 2020 and started a Helse Vest PhD-fellowship in 2022. His research is focused on the stratification of Parkinson’s disease, with emphasis on finding biomarkers for mitochondrial dysfunction in peripheral tissue. He coordinates the STRAT-PARK study at Haukeland University Hospital. This is a large, longitudinal cohort study of patients with parkinsonism and healthy controls, aiming to discover stratification biomarkers.
