Gard has a cand.med-degree from the University of Bergen, where he studied from 2016 to 2022. His interest in neurology sparked when working on his thesis in medical school, focusing on the motor-neruon disease ALS. Gard is doing his PhD in the DECODE-PD group and at the Neuro-SysMed centre, focusing on atypical parkinsonisms – with a special interest in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). He has a central role in the NO-PSP clinical trial. In his spare time Gard enjoys politics, climbing and he is a passionate trekker and member of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT).
