FRAILTY

WHAT IS FRAILTY?

Frailty is a common condition in older adults that makes them more vulnerable to illness, falls, and loss of independence. It is not a disease but rather a state of reduced strength, energy, and resilience. People who are frail may experience increased fatigue, difficulty walking or performing daily activities, and slower recovery from illness or injury.

WHY IS FRAILTY IMPORTANT?

With an aging population, frailty is becoming more common and is associated with a higher risk of complications after medical procedures, hospitalizations, and infections. It can also contribute to declines in mobility and cognitive function. However, research suggests that lifestyle changes, proper nutrition, and certain treatments may help improve strength and overall well-being, even in those who are already experiencing frailty.

OUR CLINICAL TRIAL ON FRAILTY

We are conducting a study (NADage study) to investigate whether a specific intervention can help reduce frailty in older adults. Participation in this research will contribute to scientific progress, potentially leading to better care and outcomes for future generations.
